At the invitation of Benjamin Millepied to choreograph for the show” Music and Dance ” presented March 1, 2015 at the Palais Garnier, I chose to work on Mad Rush by Philip Glass especially for the clarity of its structure, which allows me to develop a form of complementary choreographic architecture. Originally created for organ, Mad Rush is here interpreted on the harp, an instrument rarely used solo for dance . In the same direction of my previous creations I wanted to develop a contemporary design based on a classical vocabulary. With always on my mind Balanchine’s famous quote: “See the music, hear the dance. ”
Release:
- “Mad Rush, choreographed on a Glass score played on the harp, dangled space with its complex structure, beautifully served by the dancers who interpreted it. Gestures accorded to a beautiful musicality of each performer, and the idea of making a repetitive music to develop the classical vocabulary and push it to its limits was excellent. ”

- “Mad Rush Sebastian Bertaud beautiful piece, firmly structured, with music by Philip Glass played by the harp by David Lootvoet, developed great ideas of absolute musicality on relationships between bodies, and a very balanced use of space. ”
